Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the occasion of the 38th Foundation Day of the saffron party. Modi, who is only the second leader from the party to have become the Prime Minister, said he would address party workers at 4:30 pm on Friday via the NaMo app.

In a series of posts on Twitter, the PM hailed the contribution of supporters and members towards strengthening the party. He also thanked the people of India for placing their faith in the party by bringing it to power in the Centre and 20 states.

“I bow all @BJP4India Karyakartas on the special occasion of the Party’s Sthapana Diwas,” he wrote in one of his tweets.

“We remember, with great pride, the heroic service and sacrifice of all Karyakartas who built the BJP and committed themselves towards creating a stronger and better India. #IndiaTrustsBJP,” the PM added.

“For @BJP4India, the Karyakartas are everything. They are the heart and soul of the party, whose sweat has taken the Party to new heights. It is due to their efforts that we have the honour to serve people all over India and fulfil their aspirations,” expressed the PM.

Modi said the BJP – which is in power in 20 states in the country – was the “party of a new India”.

“We are privileged to receive the blessings of people of all age groups, across all sections of society. We are a Party that believes in India’s diversity, our unique culture and, above all, the strengths of 125 crore Indians,” he wrote while adding a hashtag #IndiaTrustsBJP.

Thanking the people of India for their “unwavering faith”, the PM said his party was committed to “continue to devote ourselves towards India’s transformation”.

Congratulations also came in from party president Amit Shah, who is set to address approximately 3 lakh BJP workers in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) ground on Friday.

“On the occasion of the 38th Foundation Day, I bow to the great personalities whose selfless service and devotion has taken the party to the heights where it stands today. Many known and unknown names have sacrificed their all for the principles of the party,” Shah wrote.

The BJP has planned a series of meetings on the occasion of the 38th Foundation Day, which the party intends to use as a launchpad ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Besides addressing the party’s 734 district units, Modi will be interacting with BJP workers of five Lok Sabha seats – New Delhi, North East Delhi, Hamirpur (Himachal Pradesh), North Central Mumbai and Saran (Bihar).

Their MPs are Meenakshi Lekhi, Manoj Tiwari, Anurag Thakur, Poonam Mahajan and Rajiv Pratap Rudy, respectively.
