Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday dedicated Kartavya Bhawan to the nation, underscoring its importance in fostering good governance and citizen-centric policies.
“Kartavya Bhawan, on the path of duty, is a symbol of our unwavering commitment and continuous efforts towards serving every individual,” the Prime Minister said.

The state-of-the-art complex features cutting-edge infrastructure, including advanced conference facilities, meeting rooms, and electric vehicle charging stations aimed at enhancing administrative efficiency and promoting sustainable practices.
The six-storeyed building, which also includes two basements, is part of the broader Central Vista transformation project. It embodies the government’s vision for modern, efficient, and citizen-focused governance. It will house key ministries, including Home Affairs, External Affairs, Rural Development, DoPT, MSME, and Petroleum & Natural Gas.
Kartavya Bhawan is designed to foster efficiency, innovation, and collaboration by bringing together various ministries and departments currently scattered across Delhi.
Built with sustainability in mind, the building features a zero-discharge waste management system, in-house solid waste processing, extensive use of recycled construction materials, and energy-efficient features such as advanced HVAC systems, LED lighting, and smart energy management, reducing energy use by 30%. It also generates over 5.34 lakh units of electricity annually through solar panels.
The facility will exemplify modern governance infrastructure with IT-ready and secure workspaces, equipped with the latest technology and safety systems. Features include ID card-based access control, integrated electronic surveillance, and a centralized command system for streamlined operations and monitoring.
The inauguration of Kartavya Bhawan marks a significant milestone in the government’s commitment to modernizing governance infrastructure and promoting sustainable development.
