Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the campus of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Bhilai. The inauguration of IIT Bhilai coincided with the unveiling of the world’s highest bridge from Jammu to Srinagar.
The ceremony also included the unveiling of newly constructed buildings for Kendriya Vidyalayas in Kurud and Kawardha. Spanning across 400 acres, IIT campus has been developed at a total cost of 879.22 crore, with a capacity to accommodate 2500 students.
In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasised the importance of investing in educational institutions like IIT Bhilai, which currently hosts over a thousand students across 11 branches of engineering. He lauded the collaborative efforts that brought the campus to fruition, laying the foundation for a new era of innovation and excellence.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, who joined the event from IIT Bhilai, expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his dedication to elevating the educational landscape of Chhattisgarh.

Member of Parliament Vijay Baghel and MLA Doman Lal Korasewada highlighted the transformative impact of IIT Bhilai on the region’s educational infrastructure. Former Minister Premprakash Pandey and other luminaries underscored the campus’s role in shaping the future of engineering education in India.
The event also commemorated the inauguration of 220 development projects nationwide, with a special focus on bolstering educational institutions across the country.
