Hours after extending support to BJP-led government in Maharashtra and taking oath as the Deputy Chief Minister, NCP’s Ajit Pawar was on Saturday removed as the Legislative Party leader, while his cousin and Sharad Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule said, “Party and family split.”

Ajit’s uncle and NCP supremo Sharad Pawar clarified earlier in the day that “Ajit Pawar’s decision to support the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government is his personal decision and not that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), “in a tweet. He also said, “We place on record that we do not support or endorse this decision of his.”

Sule refused to speak to reporters on the issue.

While the party spokesperson Nawab Malik said some MLAs were deluded into attending the ceremony in which Pawar took oath as deputy CM, along with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

“Many of those MLAs who were deluded into attending the oath taking ceremony met Sharad Pawar saheb and will be present in his Press conference here later today,” Malik said.

“The Shiv Sena-Congress-NCP MLAs are together,” Malik told reporters.

Meanwhile, NCP state President Jayant Patil said Ajit Pawar had expressed even late on Friday night that “the discussions were dragging on for too long” though a final breakthrough was expected today (on Saturday) after the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress unanimously approved Sena President Uddhav Thackeray as the next Chief Minister.
