During the debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday launched a scathing attack on the Narendra Modi-led NDA government over the Pahalgam attack and asked how it happened.
Acknowledging yesterday’s hour-long speech of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in the House, Priyanka stated that while the defence minister discussed several a lot, including history lessons, he left out one key thing – How did the April 22 Pahalgam attack happen?

“The Defence Minister gave a long one-hour speech, and as I listened, one thing kept troubling me… Everything was discussed- Operation Sindoor, terrorism, national security, and even lessons from history. But one thing was left out. On April 22, 2025, when 26 citizens were killed in front of their families in broad daylight, how did this attack happen? And why did it happen?” the Congress MP said in Lok Sabha.

“Why was not even one security personnel present there (Baisaran Valley, Pahalgam)?.. Is the safety and security of the citizens not the responsibility of the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister?,” she asked.
The Wayanad MP said that the government can’t hide behind this truth, no matter how many operations it conducts. “Most of the people who are sitting in this House today have a security cover…But on that day in Pahalgam, 26 people were killed in front of their families. All those people who were present in Baisaran Valley on that day did not have any security. No matter how many operations you conduct, you cannot hide behind the truth,” she remarked.
