Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly Tejashwi Yadav said that Nitish Kumar was forced to resign as Chief Minister, which he claimed was the result of his ideas that promoted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

He said that by handing over power to those who follow the ideology of Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, on the birth anniversary of Babasaheb Ambedkar, Nitish Kumar has hurt the soul and ideology of the social reformer.

“While the Rashtriya Janata Dal and its allies made all efforts to stop the BJP-RSS, Nitish Kumar provided them space, thereby weakening Babasaheb’s ideas,” he said.

“Power has been handed over to those who are against Gandhi and Ambedkar. We will continue to stand by our ideology and fight against such forces, and we will never compromise on our principles,” he added.

He urged people from backward, Dalit, extremely backward, tribal, and minority communities to remain united. “To weaken communal forces and oppose BJP policies, they must choose the path of struggle and agitation and fight both inside and outside the Assembly,” he added.

Bihar Congress leader and head of the media department Rajesh Rathore said that “democracy has been murdered in Bihar on the occasion of Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s birth anniversary.”

“We are saying this because a democratically elected Chief Minister has been removed. Today, Bihar has got a Chief Minister who has been imposed by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah,” he said.

Rathore also questioned the timing of the power transition. “Why was this date chosen? Ambedkar Jayanti? It is to show that Narendra Modi and Amit Shah are above the Constitution,” he added.

CPI(ML) State Secretary Kunal strongly reacted to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s resignation, saying that Bihar stands at a dangerous crossroads where the BJP is capturing power by openly disregarding the mandate. This is not a change of government, but a direct attack on democracy.

He said the BJP wants to turn Bihar into a laboratory of “bulldozer rule”, where there is no law, only arbitrariness, where there is no justice, only repression. However, the BJP should not assume that Bihar will accept this authoritarian project.

Kunal reminded that the people of Bihar have always fought against injustice, oppression, and regressive politics, and have defeated such forces every time. This is the same land that has repeatedly challenged the arrogance of power.

He appealed that it is now necessary to unite and strongly oppose the BJP’s authoritarian policies. The struggle to protect democracy, the Constitution, and people’s rights must be intensified.

“The people of Bihar will not remain silent. They will take to the streets to defend their rights and defeat every conspiracy,” he added.
