Healthcare research should be carried out from a humanitarian and social perspective to maintain quality and achieve excellence, Prof. (Dr.) Ashish Ghosh, Director, IIIT Bhubaneswar, said.

Prof. (Dr.) Ghosh also said that treatment needed to be provided with a holistic approach with the objective of providing relief to the patient. He was speaking as the guest of honour at the International Conference on ‘Evidence Based Practice and Innovation in Healthcare Research: Optimizing Quality and Excellence’ held at the SUM Nursing College, faculty of nursing of SOA Deemed to be University here on November 28 and 29.

Prof. (Dr.) Chandi Charan Rath, Vice-Chancellor of Rama Devi Women’s University, spoke on various aspects of research.

Dr. Dinabandhu Sahoo, Team Leader, SHSRC, Odisha, also addressed the conference, which witnessed 13 scientific sessions, 87 oral paper presentations and seven poster presentations. Altogether 763 delegates from different nursing colleges in Odisha and also from other states attended the conference.

The valedictory program was graced by Prof. Bibhuti Bhushan Pradhan, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Registrar of SOA, Prof. (Dr.) Pusparaj Samantasinghar, Medical Superintendent, Institute of Medical Sciences and SUM Hospital and Prof. Jyoti Ranjan Das, Dean (Students’ Welfare), SOA. Prof. Amrita Lenka, Advisor, Odisha chapter of SOMI and former Principal of Government College of Nursing, Berhampur, was the chief guest.

Prof. Sasmita Das, Dean, SNC, highlighted the importance of the healthcare system and the role of the nursing fraternity in it, while Prof. Pravati Tripathy, Director, SNC, outlined the theme of the conference.
