The Central University of Punjab conferred National Security Advisor Ajit Doval with a honorary degree during its ninth convocation ceremony graced by the presence of former president Ram Nath Kovind, who attended the event as the chief guest.

The ceremony, held on Tuesday, saw a total of 864 PG/Ph.D. degrees conferred to both Indian and international students.

During the convocation, four distinguished personalities, including Doval, were honored with Honorary Degrees in recognition of their outstanding contributions in various fields.

Dr. Vijay Bhatkar, the architect of India’s first Supercomputer, received the Honoris Causa Doctor of Science (D.Sc.). Dr. Harjit Singh Sabharwal, a renowned social worker, was honored with the Degree of Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) (Honoris Causa) for his philanthropic endeavors.

Dr. Jaspinder Narula, an acclaimed singer, was conferred with the Honoris Causa Degree of Doctor of Literature for her contributions to devotional Punjabi Music.

Expressing their gratitude towards the Central University of Punjab, all the distinguished personalities appreciated the prestigious Honoris Causa Degree bestowed upon them.

Ajit Doval congratulated the degree recipients and encouraged the youth to contribute towards the nation’s development.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind, in his address, commended Punjab for its historical significance as the land of 10 Sikh Gurus. He praised the university for its commitment to providing holistic education in alignment with NEP 2020 and fostering Indian diversity on its campus.

He applauded the university’s remarkable contributions to education and research, attributing its success to the visionary leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari.
