In a sustained attack on Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi in connection with ‘vote theft’ allegations, the BJP on Wednesday alleged that Congress leader Pawan Khera’s wife too has two voter IDs like her husband, in violation of rules.

A day after the saffron party claimed to have discovered two EPIC IDs of Khera, Congress party veteran and its media and publicity department chairman, BJP leader Shazia Ilmi told reporters while addressing a press conference here at the party headquarters that Khera’s wife too has two voters IDs.

She said one of the voter IDs has her full name – Kota Neelima, while the other one has just K Neelima written on it.

The BJP leader wondered how can the Congress party or Rahul Gandhi, who is also the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, can ignore it so conveniently, when their own people have been engaged in ‘vote chori’.

“…whether it’s your own people such as Pawan Khera, who carries two active voter IDs, or, for that matter, your mother, Sonia Gandhi, who held Indian voter ID much before securing citizenship of India, you ignore it. You also ignore it in case it involves your allies like Tejashwi Yadav, who too was caught with more than one voter ID card,” she said.

The BJP leader also demanded an investigation by the Election Commission of India on the issue of Khera and his wife Neelima holding two voter IDs each.

Commenting on Rahul Gandhi’s just-concluded Voter Adhikar Yatra (Voter Rights March) in Bihar, she said the Congress leader thinks that “it was his birth right to rule the country”.

The Congress, she claimed, has nothing to do with democracy.

Speaking about alleged abusive language used from a Voter Adhikar Yatra stage against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother, she said the incident would have an adverse impact on Congress and its allies and it would be visible in the Bihar assembly election, to be held later this year.

Earlier in the day, BJP leader and its IT cell chief Amit Malviya also talked about Pawan Khera’s wife Kota Neelima, who contested from the Khairatabad segment in Telangana, holding two active EPICs — one in Khairatabad and another in New Delhi.

He shared the details of the two cards which were active in 2023 and 2025.

While attacking Rahul Gandhi, Malviya said that it was quite obvious that Congress leaders hold multiple EPIC numbers and are registered voters in more than one place, which was no coincidence.

“Those indulging in Vote Chori are the very ones maligning common citizens for exercising their democratic rights and weakening our institutions. The rot isn’t limited to Pawan Khera and family. It goes back to the top – when Sonia Gandhi, an Italian, managed to get her name included in the voter list in 1980,” wrote the BJP leader on X.
