Kerala Revenue Minister K. Rajan on Saturday stated that there are no structural cracks in the houses constructed at the Wayanad rehabilitation township for survivors of the 2024 Chooralmala-Mundakkai landslides.

Speaking to the media in Kalpetta after an on-site inspection, the minister clarified that the reported issues were limited to minor water seepage marks on terraces and did not indicate any structural damage.

The minister visited the site following media reports about cracks in two of the 178 houses completed in the first phase. Accompanied by officials, he examined the structures and said they were found to be sound. The houses are being constructed by the Uralungal Labour Contract Cooperative Society (ULCCS) and are undergoing multiple stages of quality checks.

He also noted that the houses have not yet been formally handed over to beneficiaries, with only land titles distributed so far.

Meanwhile, minor leakage has been reported in a few houses within the township at Elston Estate in Wayanad. Officials said two houses—numbers 7 and 8 in Cluster A of Zone 1—have shown signs of seepage, and remedial measures are expected to be taken.
