Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh on Tuesday said there are no proposals to make contractual and outsourced employees permanent.

Speaking during Question Hour in the state assembly, he also noted that honorarium of Shiksha Mitras would be hiked as per the recommendation of a committee formed under the chairmanship of the director of Basic Education.

Around 1.40 lakh Shikshamitras of the state have been demanding an increase in their honorarium for a long time, but no decision has been taken yet.

In response to another question, the minister said the student-teacher ratio in primary schools of the state is complete hence, there are no processes in motion for fresh teacher recruitment.

He said the state government is also considering providing cashless medical insurance to basic education teachers.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Aradhana Mishra Mona demanded transfer of working women to home districts to help them take care of their children. She said the women employees should be posted in their home districts till their children turn five.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna replied that the government has made a total of 16,000 transfers in the basic education department, adding that adequate maternity leave is also being provided.
