Following the death by suicide of realtor and founder-chairperson of the Confident Group CJ Roy at his office in Bengaluru on Friday, the Income Tax Department sources on Saturday said in Kochi that no pressure was exerted on the late Confident Group chairperson.
Sources have clarified that the police will cooperate with the investigation and that Roy was not mentally harassed. However, the Income Tax Department has not made any official response in this regard.

Sources clarified that yesterday’s incident was a continuation of the proceedings that have been going on for two months and that no pressure was put on Roy, the Income Tax sources said.
Sources indicated that the searches were lawful, and Roy had previously stated in writing that no pressure was exerted on him. The department maintained that all searches and verification processes were strictly within the framework of the law.
They said the raids were part of an investigation into alleged assets disproportionate to known sources of income, with searches having been conducted at the company’s premises in December and January.
Roy’s brother, CJ Babu, alleged that tremendous pressure and harassment from officials, particularly from a team based in Kerala, led to the 57-year-old developer taking his own life.
Confident Group owner and Chairman CJ Roy committed suicide at his office in Bengaluru on Friday, hours after the Income Tax (IT) Department conducted raids at his company offices over allegations of tax evasion.
The Karnataka government has formed a six-member Special Investigation Team (SIT), led by Joint Commissioner of Police C Vamsi Krishna, to conduct a comprehensive probe into the circumstances of the death.
