Road travel across Punjab and Haryana is set to become slightly more expensive as the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) revised its user fee structure across eight key toll plazas in the region.
Under the revised rates, which came into effect on Tuesday, commuters traveling along routes connecting Sangrur, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bathinda, and Abohar will have to pay an additional ₹5 to ₹10 per trip.

The adjustment follows an update to the NHAI’s toll calculation system, which reincorporated a Wholesale Price Index (WPI) linking factor of 1.641. Addressing the revision, highway administration officials noted that while toll rates had been reduced in certain areas last year, the updated policy restores the older pricing model. They maintained that the current hike remains highly nominal across most segments, even though revised tariffs have been notified for over 50 toll plazas in the northern region.
Under the new rate structure, the Kot Karor toll plaza on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway (NH-15) will now charge private cars and light motor vehicles ₹50 for a single journey and ₹70 for a return trip. Heavy commercial vehicles like buses and trucks at this plaza will be charged ₹165 for a one-way trip and ₹250 for a two-way journey. Similarly, at the Kala Tibba plaza on the Abohar-Dabwali route, car owners will pay ₹50 for a single trip and ₹80 for a return, while heavy vehicle operators will shell out ₹175 and ₹265 respectively.
Further down the Maur-Romana Mandi highway (NH-254), the Sheikhpura toll plaza has set its light vehicle rates at ₹55 for a single trip and ₹85 for a return run, while charging buses and trucks ₹185 and ₹280. At the Lehrabega toll point on the Tapa-Bathinda stretch of NH-7, private cars will now be charged ₹80 for a single entry and ₹120 for a return journey, whereas heavy commercial vehicles will have to pay ₹270 and ₹400.
For commuters passing through the Khuian Sarwar plaza on the Malout-Abohar bypass, the revised tariff for cars stands at ₹105 for a single way and ₹155 for a round trip, with heavy transport vehicles paying ₹350 and ₹520. The Kalajhar plaza on the Patiala bypass (NH-64) will see some of the highest rates, with light vehicles charged ₹115 for a single trip and ₹175 for return, while trucks and buses will pay ₹390 and ₹585. Finally, at the Peend toll plaza on the Sangrur-Dogal Kalan stretch of NH-52, the one-way fee for cars is now ₹95 and the return fee is ₹145, with buses and trucks paying ₹325 and ₹485, respectively.
