Upset over a Government tweet mentioning “death” of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, All India Forward Bloc (AIFB) General Secretary Debabrata Biswas on Friday announced the party would soon mobilise public opinion on Netaji.

He said the tweet on 18 August last “tried to clandestinely establish that Netaji died in the alleged air crash on 18th August, 1945.” He said he did not expect this from the BJP Government because the Justice Mukherjee Commission of Inquiry appointed by the then BJP Government had stated in its report that Netaji “did not die in the plane crash as alleged” and that “the ashes in the Japanese temple are not of Netaji”.

The All India Forward Bloc has in a letter to the Prime Minister demanded that the Mukherjee Report be accepted, and another Commission of Inquiry be appointed to establish the ultimate truth about Netaji‘s whereabouts and other related matters.

Biswas said there should be a direction by the Government of India that there will be no mention of Netaji’s death in any book or document, public or private.

“We demand an enquiry into the issue of a tweet by the PIB on this issue, and the subsequent withdrawal of this tweet,” he said. All the classified documents related to Netaji and I.N.A. should be declassified, he said.

The All India Forward Bloc has decided to launch a nationwide campaign to mobilise public opinion for Netaji’s cause. Public meetings, including street corner meetings, rallies, seminars, demonstrations, signature campaign and many other activities will be organised “to compel the Government to do justice to Netaji, and curb the activities of anti-Netaji conspirators”, Biswas said.
