Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday intensified his “vote theft” allegations against the BJP, warning that he is preparing to reveal what he described as a “hydrogen bomb” exposé. The ruling party, dismissing his remarks, branded him “irresponsible” and “difficult to comprehend.”

Speaking in Patna on the concluding day of his 16-day ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in election-bound Bihar, Gandhi compared his earlier charge of electoral malpractice in Bengaluru’s Mahadevapura constituency to an “atom bomb.”

“You know what’s bigger than the atom bomb? The hydrogen bomb,” he told the gathering in Hindi. “The BJP should get ready — a hydrogen bomb is coming.”

Although he offered no concrete details, past videos of his rallies have captured crowds shouting “Varanasi” — Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s parliamentary seat — to which Gandhi responded with a knowing smile. On Monday, he further escalated, declaring: “Once this hydrogen bomb drops, Narendra Modi ji will not be able to face the people.”

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad ridiculed Gandhi’s comments, quipping, “Whenever Rahul Gandhi speaks, inside or outside Parliament, I need to tune in with multiple antennas.” He continued, “What do atom bombs and hydrogen bombs have to do with elections? Why is Rahul Gandhi reducing himself to this, despite being the Leader of Opposition? The country should recognise his irresponsibility.”

In his Patna address, Gandhi also launched a fierce attack on the BJP, accusing it of being the ideological heirs of those who assassinated Mahatma Gandhi and charging that the party is now attempting to “destroy the Constitution of India.”
