Ten states, along with the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC), recorded a disposal rate of over 100% in July 2025, indicating that the number of cases resolved exceeded the number of cases filed during this period.
As per the data from the Department of Consumer Affairs, the NCDRC achieved a disposal rate of 122%, while Tamil Nadu recorded 277%, Rajasthan 214%, Telangana 158%, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand 150% each, Meghalaya 140%, Kerala 122%, Puducherry 111%, Chhattisgarh 108% and Uttar Pradesh 101%.

Analysis of the data for the period from 1 July to 31 July 2025 further revealed that the overall disposal of consumer cases across the country was substantially higher than the corresponding period in 2024, underscoring the continued efforts towards timely and effective resolution of consumer disputes, it added.
Adding to this achievement, as of 6th August 2025, over two lakh users, including NRIs, have registered on the e-Jagriti platform since its launch, and 85,531 cases have been filed through it this year alone.
The department also shared some of the success stories in the state. In Tamil Nadu, the Dharmapuri Commission awarded a consumer refund and compensation of nearly Rs 30,000 for a defective television, while the Thanjavur Commission ordered refund of Rs 99,500 NEET coaching fees with 9% interest, plus ₹5 lakh compensation and litigation costs.
In Punjab, the Barnala Commission directed refund of Rs 3.09 lakh for defective tiles along with interest, compensation, and costs after expert testimony confirmed manufacturing defects.
In Haryana, the Rewari Commission ordered refund/replacement of a defective dishwasher worth Rs 48,000 plus AMC charges, along with Rs 25,000 compensation for harassment.
In Gujarat, the Ahmedabad Commission settled a Mediclaim denial case in 30 days, directing full reimbursement of Rs 35,496 with 7% interest and compensation for harassment and litigation costs.
