“It (tiger corridor) will connect Kanha, Bandhavgarh, Panna and Pench tiger reserves”, Gadkari informed. The minister said the project would significantly boost tourism, employment and the state’s economy.

Madhya Pradesh is known as the ‘Tiger State’ of India, and is home to 785 tigers as per the 2022 census, followed by Karnataka (563) and Uttarakhand (560), according to the National Tiger Conservation Authority and Wildlife Institute of India.

Gadkari said that the greenfield highway between Bhopal and Jabalpur would be 255 km long. Its Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared by December.

He asked MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav, and State PWD Minister Rakesh Singh, who were also present at the function, to ensure land acquisition so construction could begin by next April or May.
