Nine people were killed in the Jammu division on Monday in landslides and shooting stones triggered by incessant rains in the Poonch and Doda districts.

In J&K’s Samba area, a lady was arrested on Tuesday for brutally abusing her toddler.
According to police sources, a video of a mother viciously striking her child went viral on social media.

Preeti Sharma, a resident of Upper Kamila Purmandal in Samba district, was recognised as the woman by police.

“An FIR has been lodged against the mother under the relevant sections of law. She has been detained for questioning”, the sources said.

Police on Sunday foiled the Congress’ march to Lok Bhavan (Lt. Governor’s residence) in Jammu by detaining dozens of leaders and activists attempting to submit a memorandum addressed to President Droupadi Murmu demanding immediate restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Omar declared that the National Conference would take its fight for Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood to the national capital.
