Congress president Rahul Gandhi came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi, mocking him for shooting in Corbett National Park after the Pulwama terror attack. He was addressing a massive gathering in Dehradun on Saturday, where he raised the Rafale deal, Nirav Modi and other old issues, and hit out at Modi for removing senior BJP leader and former Uttarakhand chief minister Major General (Retd) BC Khanduri as the chairman of parliamentary defence committee for speaking the truth.

A major highlight of the ‘Parivartan rally’ was BC Khanduri’s son Manish Khanduri joining the Congress.

Creating huge embarrassment for BJP and the Khanduri family that has deep roots in the BJP, Manish shared dais with Uttarakhand Congress leaders at the Parade Ground. BC Khanduri is sitting Member of Parliament from Pauri Garhwal and his daughter won from Yamkeshwar assembly seat on BJP ticket in 2017.

Praising BC Khanduri, Rahul Gandhi said, “BC Khanduri gave all his life to Army. Khanduri ji was the chairman of the Parliament’s Defence Committee. He was removed from the position by Narendra Modi, because he raised concerns in the Parliament on national security. There is no place for truth in BJP.”

Mocking the PM for shooting for thee and a half hours at Jim Corbett National Park, for a National Geographic Channel documentary, after the Pulwama terror attack, Rahul Gandhi mimicked Modi as he looked up, left, right and other positions acting like posing for a camera.

Rahul promised to implement minimum income guarantee for every citizen and starting “real GST”, one that would be “simple” and ensure “lower tax”, if Congress was voted to power.

Accusing Narendra Modi of helping Anil Ambani, the Congress president said, “In Parliament, I questioned Modi on Rafale scam. Why was Anil Ambani given the deal? Why did you steal the job opportunities from our youth? Narendra Modi could not meet my eyes.”

Turning to Nirav Modi, Rahul said, “Nirav Modi fled from India with Rs 35,000 Crore public money. England government wrote to our government offering help to catch the economic offender, but Modi did not respond.”

Farmers and youth issues did not find any mention in Rahul Gandhi’s speech even as he asked the party workers to unite to form government at the Centre and in Uttarakhand.
