Rahul Thakur, a resident of Jagriti Vihar, accused Jakati of making inappropriate remarks involving a minor girl and a woman in a 1.08-minute video. Thakur filed a complaint at the Inchauli Police Station and also approached the Child Rights Commission and Women’s Commission.

According to police, the case was registered under breach of peace, and Jakati was arrested from his home around 4 pm on Thursday. He was produced before SDM Sadar Diksha Joshi around 5:30 pm, who granted him bail.

An audio clip of a phone call between Thakur and Jakati also surfaced, in which Thakur warned Jakati to remove the video, calling it objectionable. Jakati insisted, however, that the girl featured in the video was a family member.

In the video, Jakati is seen sitting at a grocery shop. A young girl arrives to buy items and tells him that her mother will pay later. Jakati then comments on the girl’s beauty and implies her mother must also be beautiful. Later in the video, he goes to the girl’s house, jokingly asking the woman who opens the door to “give a kiss” instead of money. The girl then comes out with another woman and identifies her actual mother, after which Jakati starts talking about payment.

The video quickly went viral, leading to sharp reactions online. Many social media users demanded strict action, including charges under POCSO, while others urged caution and advised waiting for a proper investigation.

SP Dehat Abhijeet Kumar confirmed that a case under breach of peace was registered, and Jakati was arrested accordingly.

Jakati’s lawyer, Syed Mohammad Zameer, argued in court that the video involved Jakati’s own daughter and wife and did not contain anything that could disturb public peace. The SDM accepted the explanation and granted bail.

Speaking after his release, Jakati said, “I only complimented the child, saying she was cute and that her mother must also be nice. I’ve never said anything wrong. If the video hurt anyone, I apologise.”

He added that he did not know the complainant personally and was unaware of the legal sections invoked. Jakati also mentioned that he had deleted the video shortly after posting it.

Shadab Jakati lives in the Inchauli area of Meerut. A cricket enthusiast, he previously worked as a driver in Saudi Arabia, where he began making videos. Over time, he gained significant popularity on social media.

One of his videos—“10 wala biscuit ka packet kitne ka hai ji?”—became a massive hit, garnering millions of views. Celebrities like Badshah, Rinku Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav have recreated the trend, contributing to its global reach.
