In a significant move on Friday, BSP supremo Mayawati on Friday replaced Narendra Mohit as the party’s Ghaziabad district president with Manoj Jatav.
The change follows a complaint by Meerut division in-charge Vijay Singh, who alleged that Mohit had collected donations from workers for the October 9 rally, violating party directives.

Tensions between the two leaders further escalated on October 23 when a hoarding of Mayawati at the Ghaziabad party office was reportedly torn down, sparking a confrontation.
On Thursday, October 23, Mayawati had dismissed Shamsuddin, former Lucknow-Kanpur division in-charge, for failing to respond to 37 consecutive calls from her. The latest action against Mohit is reportedly related to the donation allegations.
Party sources say this has created unease among leaders. The rivalry between 70-year-old Vijay Singh and 44-year-old Narendra Mohit dates back to 2023. At the time, Vijay Singh was Ghaziabad district president, and Mohit served as his junior district general secretary. Before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Mohit was promoted to Meerut division in-charge, a position seen as senior to Vijay Singh’s, which reportedly sparked resentment.
The sources claim that the two have been at odds ever since, with Vijay Singh allegedly targeting Mohit whenever possible.
The hoarding incident in Ghaziabad occurred near the party office, where BSP meetings are held. Allegedly, Vijay Singh and his supporters tore it down, leading to a confrontation with Mohit.
The confusion was compounded by the presence of three party members named Mohit in Ghaziabad. Narendra Mohit is from the Jatav community and has previously been associated with the Aam Aadmi Party and Peace Party. Another Mohit, from the Valmiki community, is associated with the Bhim Army and is the Modinagar assembly in-charge.
For the October 9 program, Narendra Mohit reportedly collected cash donations from workers despite explicit instructions from the party to accept only in-kind contributions, such as vehicles, banners, and posters. Western UP in-charge Munkad Ali was responsible for overseeing arrangements, but Vijay Singh leveraged the situation to lodge a complaint with Mayawati, leading to Mohit’s removal.
Mohit, however, stated that he had never sought positions within the BSP and has served in various capacities, from booth in-charge to senior organizational roles. He added that Mayawati could decide on his future roles as per party needs. Notably, he was also removed on January 9 earlier this year but reinstated as district president on March 13.
