Hospital sources said Pathak was brought to RML Hospital around 8.25 pm with grievous head and other injuries. The body has been sent for post-mortem. The sources said the exact cause of the injury would be ascertained after that.

The train was coming from Yamuna Bank station and going towards Dwarka. A PCR call about the incident was received around 7.30 pm, a senior police officer said.

“He allegedly jumped in front of an approaching train at Mandi House Metro station,” a senior DMRC official said.

“Services on nearby section faced a little delay due to the incident,” the official said.

“The person was declared dead at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital. We are still verifying his other details. It is yet not clear whether he jumped before the Metro train or fell accidentally after slipping off platform. We are going through the CCTV footage,” IANS quoted a senior police officer as saying.

Commuters towards Dwarka from Noida and Ghaziabad on the Blue Line had to face delays on stations along the route.

There was heavy rush at the busy intersection connecting stations along the Blue Line to those on the Violet Line.

Earlier, several commuters tweeted about the delay, saying they were told by officials that there was a “technical problem”.
