Retired Supreme Court judge, Ranjana Prasad Desai, has been appointed chairperson of a panel constituted by the Madhya Pradesh BJP government to prepare a draft bill with detailed provisions related to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state.

Retired Supreme Court judge, Ranjana Prasad Desai, has been appointed chairperson of a panel constituted by the Madhya Pradesh BJP government to prepare a draft bill with detailed provisions related to the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the state.
The panel has been asked to submit its report within 60 days. The move is aimed at implementing the Uniform Civil Code in Madhya Pradesh.

According to state government officials, the notification constituting the six-member panel was issued on Monday night.

Officials said the other members of the panel include retired IAS officer Shatrughan Singh, legal expert Anoop Nair, academician Gopal Sharma, social worker Budhpal Singh and Ajay Katseriya, Additional Secretary in the General Administration Department.
