Mahashivratri is among the most revered festivals in Hindu tradition, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The festival is marked by fasting, night-long prayers, devotional music and special rituals in temples across the country. Devotees offer milk, water and bilva leaves to the Shivling and chant sacred hymns, seeking spiritual upliftment and divine blessings.
It is customary for political leaders across party lines to share greetings on major religious occasions, reflecting India’s pluralistic ethos and shared cultural traditions. The messages from Kharge and Gandhi underscore the Congress party’s emphasis on unity, harmony and inclusive progress during significant national celebrations.
