A temple in Kerala’s Palakkad district declined permission for a transgender couple to get married on its premises on Thursday.
The authorities of the Kachamkurissy temple at Kollengode in the Palakkad district have refused permission for the couple, Neelankrishna and Adwaika , for tying of the ‘thaali’ (sacred thread/wedding chain) on Thursday morning.
Following this, the wedding ceremony, including the ‘thaalikettu’ ritual was held at the Shenkunthar Kalyana Mandapam located on the Pollachi road in Kollengode. The temple authorities said since there was no precedence of transgender marriage in the temple, they had decided not to allow the ‘thaali’ to be tied at the temple.

Neelankrishna, a native of Alappuzha and Adwaika, a native of Thiruvananthapuram are employed in the Finmart branch in Kollengode.
