Southwest Monsoon likely to arrive in Kerala on June 4; IMD warns of week-long heavy rainfall
Several Kerala districts are already under weather alerts as the IMD forecasts thunderstorms, gusty winds and widespread rainfall during the coming week.

The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday approved the proposal for a new Kerala High Court building and judicial city at Kalmassery near Kochi, estimated to cost of over Rs 1,000 crore.
A meeting of the Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, decided to acquire 27 acres of land owned by HMT Limited and begin construction of the project.

The Cabinet nod follows the decisions taken at the Chief Minister-Chief Justice annual meeting in 2023. The details of the project were cleared up at the meeting after a delegation comprising then Kerala High Court Chief Justice A J Desai and Justices Mohammed Mushtaq, Bechu Kurian Thomas, Raja Vijayaraghavan and Satheesh Nainan visited the site.

The Public Works Department (PWD) has prepared a primary outline of the judicial city which includes the new Kerala High Court building. The Home Department has been directed to initiate preliminary steps for the project and explore the possibility of securing assistance from the Centre.
The Cabinet also approved the draft of the Kerala Public Service Right Bill, 2025, and cleared an amendment to the State’s University Act to add a provision for holding syndicate meetings.
