In addition, the Kerala Public Records Bill, 2023, which was referred to the Select Committee after being introduced on July 11, 2024, will also be taken up during this session.
Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer on Sunday said that the session has been called exclusively for law-making.
“Nine of the 12 days will be set apart for law-making,” he said.
The session is expected to be a tumultuous one, with the local body election on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Rahul Mamkootathil, who was suspended from the Congress party following sexual harassment allegations, will have a separate block in the Assembly. Assembly Speaker Shamseer told the media that Rahul Mamkootathil has been allotted a separate Block in the Assembly. The Speaker said that the decision was based on a letter from Opposition Leader V D Satheesan. He added that it is up to Rahul to decide on his attendance in the House and that no leave application has been received yet.
Satheesan on Friday evening handed over a letter to the Speaker’s office stating that Palakkad legislator Mamkootathil, who faces accusations of sexual misconduct, remains debarred from the Congress Legislative Party (CLP).
Rahul was suspended from the primary membership of Congress on August 25 after three individuals raised inappropriate misconduct and sexual misbehaviour allegations against him.
