TRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha, on Wednesday, called YS Sharmila, a covert of BJP, who originally belonged to Andhra Pradesh but migrated herself in to Telangana after governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, and senior BJP leaders batted for her following the Tuesday’s high drama when Hyderabad police towed away the YSRTP chief’s car as she was sitting inside it.
Telangana governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, found the visuals of YSRTP chief YS Sharmila, sitting inside the car which was towed away “disturbing”. In a statement issued by the Raj Bhavan, she expressed concern over Sharmila’s health and stated: “Whatever may be the political background or ideology women leaders and women cadres need to be treated in a more dignified and respectful way.” Senior BJP leaders like G Kishan Reddy, also slammed the TRS government for the treatment meted out to Sharmila, the daughter of former CM YS Rajasekhar Reddy, and sister of AP CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha, took a jibe at Sharmila, insinuating she was a plant of BJP in Telangana in social media. She took recourse to verse and wrote on Twitter: “Lotus flowers were singing the paeans of the arrow which was released by them.”
Undeterred by the attack Sharmila, retaliated with a similar barb implying that Kavitha, only held post but had no work in TRS. “In the pink (TRS party colour) garden, known only for posts but not work there is no dearth of poems,” wrote Sharmila.
Kavitha, the daughter of CM K Chandrasekhar Rao, then retorted that she was not a political tourist (like Sharmila). She reminded that till Tuesday, Sharmila, had exercised her franchise in Pulivendula, her ancestral place in Andhra Pradesh but now she was touring Telangana on behalf of BJP. She further stated that the people of Telangana were aware of these. Kavitha, even referred to Sharmila“orange parrot”. The TRS MLC said unlike Sharmila, she had joined the Telangana movement long before the state was created.
Sharmila, formed the YSRTP this year while promising to bring back the reign of late YS Rajasekhar Reddy, who was an immensely popular CM known for his welfare schemes. Her mother Vijayamma, had said Sharmila, was born in Telangana and she was married to a man from the state. After her arrest, there has been a lot of speculation about her rapport with her brother who has so far decided to stay away from her attempt to launch herself in Telagana.
