The stage is set for the formal launch of Karnataka’s new Congress government, with Chief Minister-designate DK Shivakumar scheduled to take oath in Bengaluru today. Alongside the leadership transition, the Congress party has also finalised the first list of ministers, clearing the way for a 14-member team to be sworn in with the new Chief Minister.
The approvals come ahead of the oath-taking ceremony scheduled at Lok Bhavan, where senior Congress leaders from across the country are expected to gather for the political event.

According to reports, the party leadership has given its nod to the initial ministerial lineup that will form the first phase of the new Cabinet. A total of 14 ministers are expected to take oath alongside DK Shivakumar as the Congress moves to put its administrative structure in place immediately after the formation of the government.
MB Patil confirms selection
Congress leader MB Patil confirmed that he would be part of the new ministry.
Speaking after receiving the information, MB Patil said he had been informed by DK Shivakumar about his inclusion in the Cabinet. He added that he congratulated the Chief Minister-designate and thanked him for the opportunity to serve in the new government.
Several prominent Congress figures are expected to be part of the Cabinet formation process. Among those likely to take oath as ministers are Satish Jarkiholi, Ramalinga Reddy, MB Patil, Priyank Kharge and Yathindra Siddaramaiah.
Political attention also remained focused on senior Congress leader G Parameshwara, who met DK Shivakumar at his residence earlier in the day. The meeting fuelled speculation about a possible role for G Parameshwara as Deputy Chief Minister, although no official announcement had been made at the time of reporting.
Congress heavyweights to attend
The ceremony is expected to witness the presence of top Congress leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala. Several Chief Ministers from Congress-ruled states are also likely to attend the event.
Former Union Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, who arrived in Bengaluru ahead of the ceremony, expressed confidence in the party’s decision-making process. He said the Congress leadership ultimately takes the right decisions, even if consultations take time, and voiced confidence that the new leadership team would work together to strengthen both the government and the party in Karnataka.
