Trinamool Congress MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar has filed a complaint to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, accusing party colleague Kalyan Banerjee of verbally abusing her inside the Parliament as well as misogynistic behaviour towards women parliamentarians.

This comes as Dastidar tendered her resignation from all the organisational posts in the party with immediate effect. The MP from Barasat in the North 24 Parganas district, sent her resignation letter to the TMC state president Subrata Bakshi.

Her complaint to the Lok Sabha Speaker comes amid deepening faultlines within the Mamata Banerjee-led party, which suffered a major setback in the 2026 Assembly elections in West Bengal. Post the state elections, public display of dissent and internal unease has been increasingly spilling into the open.

In her letter, she sought permission to formally register the complaint and demanded strict action against Kalyan Banerjee.

“I seek your permission to lodge a formal complaint to you for redressal against Lok Sabha Member of AITC Kalyan Banerjee, who has repeatedly verbally abused me inside the Lok Sabha. This misogyny has been against many lady members and needs to be punished,” she wrote.

As of now, Kalyan Banerjee or the TMC leadership have not reacted to the complaint.

Notably, Dastidar continues to be an MP of Barasat, which she won on a TMC ticket.
