Season’s first rail parcel van departs Jammu for Mumbai carrying 12 ton cherries
The season’s first rail van carrying 12 tonnes of Kashmir’s juicy deep-red cherries departed for Mumbai from here early this morning.
The two died on the spot, while Rana’s wife and his two other relatives were seriously injured.

The Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Ramnagar in the Udhampur district, Rajendra Singh Rana, a JKAS officer, and his 8-year-old son were killed on Friday evening when a landslide hit their vehicle in which they were travelling in the Reasi district.
The two died on the spot, while Rana’s wife and his two other relatives were seriously injured.

The mishap occurred due to a landslide when their vehicle was crossing the Salukh Ikhtar Nala area in the Reasi district.

According to officials, the family was returning to their native village Pattiyan from Dharmari when the landslide triggeted by heavy rain hit their Bolero SUV, burying it under debris.
The injured have been shifted to the hospital.
Local administration and police teams reached the spot soon after the incident and launched a rescue operation.
Meanwhile, Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha has expressed grief over the tragic incident.
He wrote on X; “Extremely saddened by the landslide incident in Dharmari, Reasi in which we have lost an outstanding officer Rajinder Singh, JKAS 2011, SDM Ramnagar & his son. The tragedy is heart-wrenching. My deepest condolences to the bereaved family & I pray that the injured recover quickly”.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo have also mourned Rana’s death.
