The police on Wednesday nabbed two persons and recovered 3.5 kg of high-quality charas from them. The two Kashmiri men were smuggling the narcotic substance from the valley to Delhi.

The police signalled them to stop near Nagrota but they tried to flee towards Jammu in their vehicle. However, they were arrested at another check post and the contraband seized from them.

Both are residents of Anantnag in South Kashmir.

In another incident, the police arrested four persons who, in two trucks, were smuggling 2214 bottles of codeine phosphate (an alkaloid obtained from opium or prepared from morphine) in specially fabricated cavities in the vehicles. The arrested four are also residents of Kashmir.

The police at Samba intercepted the two trucks that had come from Punjab. The drug was being transported to Kashmir.

Cases under the NDPS Act have been registered in both incidents.
