The hunt for the origins of Covid-19 has for the past four years been a tangled web of politics, power struggles, and international finger-pointing.
A total of 166 people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the country during the past 24 hours, the Union Health ministry said on Friday.
The addition of the new cases of infections rose the Covid caseload to 4,50,27,754. It also included the JN.1 Covid variant cases.
According to the data, of the new cases, 47 were reported from Karnataka and 42 from Maharashtra.

The national capital reported 18 new cases.
As per the data, the death toll rose to 5,33,470 as two more succumbed to the disease. Haryana and Maharashtra reported one death each.
On a positive note, 122 people have recuperated from the disease. The recovery tally stood at 4,44,93,425.
The active cases in the country stands at 859.
