India, Australia, Canada launch Trilateral Tech Partnership

Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday announced a new trilateral technology and innovation partnership with Australia and Canada, aimed at deepening collaboration in emerging technologies and promoting sustainable development.

The Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation (ACITI) Partnership was launched on the sidelines of the G20 Summit in Johannesburg.

“We are delighted to announce an Australia-Canada-India Technology and Innovation Partnership today. The initiative will deepen collaboration between democratic partners across three continents and three oceans in emerging technologies, support diversification of supply chains, clean energy and mass adoption of AI,” PM Modi said in a post on handle X.

The partnership seeks to promote cooperation in critical areas, including clean energy, artificial intelligence, and supply chain diversification. The move is seen as a significant step towards strengthening ties between India, Australia, and Canada, and promoting a rules-based international order.

PM Modi held a meeting with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney to discuss the partnership. The three leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration in emerging technologies to drive sustainable growth and development.
