The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Saturday issued a red warning for five districts of Odisha, forecasting heavy to very heavy rainfall, with isolated extremely heavy downpours, over the next 24 hours under the influence of a well-marked low-pressure area over the northwest Bay of Bengal and the adjoining north Odisha–West Bengal coasts.
According to the Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar, the well-marked low-pressure area remained nearly stationary over the region on Saturday morning and is expected to move west-northwestward across north Odisha and north Chhattisgarh over the next three days.

An orange warning for heavy to very heavy rainfall has been issued for Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Puri, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Bargarh, Kalahandi and Rayagada districts.
A yellow warning for heavy rainfall has been issued for Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Sundargarh and Jharsuguda districts.
The IMD has also warned that sea conditions along and off the Odisha coast are likely to remain rough to very rough from July 4 to 7. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea during this period.
As a precautionary measure, Local Cautionary Signal No. III (LC-3) has been ordered to be hoisted at all ports in Odisha.
