A Jaguar fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force crashed near the Churu district of Rajasthan on Wednesday. The pilot of the fighter jet is feared dead in the accident, as a body has reportedly been recovered from the wreckage.
The aircraft crashed in a field in Churu’s Ratan Shahar. It had taken off from the Suratgarh air base.

Originally developed in the 1960s as a joint British-French project, the SEPECAT Jaguar has been retired by all the nations that once operated it. However, India is now the sole remaining user of the aircraft, with the Indian Air Force maintaining approximately 120 Jaguars across six squadrons.
Frequent crashes have raised concerns about the safety of the aircraft, as this is the third such accident in 2025 alone. Earlier this year, a Jaguar aircraft had crashed in Haryana’s Panchkula on March 7, and another in Jamnagar, Gujarat, on April 2.
More details are awaited.
