Hyderabad: Unidentified woman whose charred body was found, might have committed suicide

The incident sent shock waves with questions being raised on women’s safety as one after another two charred bodies of women were found in close vicinity, raising suspicion that this might be the same case as woman veterinarian who was allegedly raped, killed and charred to death by 4 people.

The preliminary police investigation into the charred body of the woman found on Friday night in Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad, not far from the place where a woman veterinarian was gang-raped and murdered on Wednesday night, reveal that it was a case of suicide.

A CCTV visual shows the woman walking alone on Friday evening, carrying a bag containing a bottle-like substance, police said.

Eye-witnesses noticed the woman sitting at a nearby temple and weeping.

Earlier, on November 29, the burnt body of an unknown woman, aged between 30 and 35 years, was found near the Siddulagutta Temple road under the limits of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate which was sent for autopsy.

The latest incident was reported a day after the charred body of a veterinarian was found near Shadnagar town, about 50 km from Hyderabad.

“It preliminarily appears to be suicide as per the burn injuries and the scene of offence observed so far. However, further information would be given after post-mortem report (is received) and her identity is established after looking at CCTV footage further. But, it preliminarily appears to be suicide as per available CCTV visuals and the things found with her,” a police official said.

The police was alerted by some passers-by who had noticed the burning body of the woman.
