“Until today, I have not met a good communist. All communists are criminals. World leaders use communism as a cover for their criminal activities and destruction of humanity. A good number of them do not know what communism and Marxism are. I don’t know about Kerala,” said Bela Thar, who received the lifetime achievement award for films at the film festival.

“I was an ardent communist until the age of 16. Later, when I realized that all the people I worshiped were fake communists, I learned to turn back from the ways I had been walking up to then,” he said.
Calling communism a copper coin thrown away by the world, Bela said, “It was my country that embraced communism and taught me to hate it.”
Putting a question whether you know of any country that survived communism and socialism, he went on to answer himself, “You might take the name of China. But China is a capitalist country.
