HNBG Central University to launch special diploma programme for Agniveers

HNBGU authorities and Garhwal Rifles officials stated that besides providing better re-employment opportunities, the HNBGU diploma and certificate courses will motivate more youth to join the defence forces as Agniveers.

Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (HNBGU), Srinagar, on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Garhwal Rifles Regimental Centre (GRRC), Lansdowne, to conduct special skill-based diploma courses for Agniveers for their better rehabilitation after their discharge from the armed forces.

HNBGU authorities and Garhwal Rifles officials stated that besides providing better re-employment opportunities, the HNBGU diploma and certificate courses will motivate more youth to join the defence forces as Agniveers. According to them, faculty from various departments of the university have developed an eight-month diploma and certificate course for Agniveers. This skill-based course is HNBGU’s first initiative to run an educational course for the well-being of defence personnel.

Speaking at the MoU function, GRRC commandant Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi termed it an important day for Agniveers and said their multi-domain training has taken a new dimension with the special diplomas prepared by the university. “Garhwal University has taken a significant step towards empowering Agniveers with highly skilled scholarly diplomas and certificates. It will prove to be a milestone for them in the future. The MoU will not only encourage higher recruitment of Agniveers but also motivate them to serve the nation and ensure national security with the assurance of a bright future.”

HNBGU Vice Chancellor Professor Shriprakash Singh said, “It’s a matter of pride for Garhwal University to get an opportunity to work with the protectors of Mother India. Garhwal University will make positive efforts in the coming years to ensure that its name and identity gain global recognition.”
