Some activists of Hindu right-wing organizations were assaulted and thrashed by members of the SC/ST community and activists of the ‘Samrat Ashok Kranti Sena’ at an SC/ST conference organized at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.

The Hindu organization activists, said to be belonging to the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and RSS affiliated units, had reached the venue alleging that anti-Hindu activities were being carried out, and books and literature defaming Hindu deities were being sold and distributed at the event held at the Manas Bhavan on Sunday.

Jabalpur Congress MLA Lakhan Ghanghoria and Satna MLA Siddharth Kushwaha were also present in the event, when the ruckus occurred.

Police personnel on duty at the venue somehow managed to prevent the situation from escalating further, and frisked away the Hinduactivists to safety.

Ghanghoria alleged that the trouble-makers belonged to RSS affiliated units, and were deliberately trying to disturb the proceedings at the conference.

On the other hand, VHP Provincial Secretary Sumit Thakur alleged that books insulting Hindu deities were being sold at the event, and anti-Hindu activities were also taking place during the conference.

Thakur demanded that an FIR be registered against those who assaulted their workers, warning of an aggressive agitation if no action is taken.

Police said that further investigations were on in the matter.
