Himachal Minister visits consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir

Says it was his ‘Putra Dharam’

Himachal Minister visits consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir

Contrary to the Congress party’s stand, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh on Monday attended the consecration ceremony of Ram Mandir temple at Ayodhya.

Sharing his photo on social media platform, he maintained that he visited the temple following ‘putra dharam’ (son’s duty) as being a son of former erstwhile King of Rampur Bushahr and former six- time CM Virbhadra Singh, an invite was sent to his family.

He being the titular king of Rampur Bushahr, it was now his duty to obey as a son.

This comes despite the party high command’s decision to skip the consecration of the temple invite.

Having been declared as a state guest by the BJP-led Uttar Pradesh government, he arrived in Lucknow by flight on Sunday.

Singh had initially declared openly on social platforms terming it as a once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the designated ceremony by mentioning of having received an invite as a minister.

However, he took a U-turn, changing his stand and statement to visit the temple on any other date post consecration of the temple, after the high command decided not to accept the invite.

Much to the surprise on Monday, the 34-year old minister defied his party stand and visited the temple. He also said that he had a courtesy meeting with his counterpart PWD Minister of Uttar Pradesh Jitin Prasad.

This was aimed to further improve the work of his PWD department in Himachal Pradesh and efforts would be made to adopt new technologies from Uttar Pradesh, to enhance the quality of PMGSY-3 and NABARD road works.
