The state Cabinet, in its meeting held here on Saturday, decided to allow the Transport Department to issue necessary permissions for converting 1,000 existing diesel and petrol taxis into electric taxis, with a provision of a 40 percent subsidy under the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Yojna.
The Cabinet also approved 15 days of paternity leave for male contractual employees in the state.

It gave its nod to streamline the implementation and strengthen the monitoring mechanism of the Prakritik Kheti Khushhal Kisan Yojna and the H.P. Crop Diversification Project (JICA-Phase II).
The improved mechanism is expected to foster better coordination among departments, SPNF, and JICA, while ensuring effective governance and execution of these flagship projects.
The Cabinet decided to constitute a sub-committee under the chairmanship of Revenue Minister Jagat Singh Negi to finalize the draft guidelines for Rural Area Development.
These guidelines will be adopted by Gram Panchayats in the form of model by-laws to regulate construction activities in rural areas. Rural Development Minister Anirudh Singh, Urban Development Minister Vikramaditya Singh, and Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharamani will be members of this sub-committee.
The Cabinet also approved the inclusion of 19 sports disciplines in the list qualifying meritorious sportspersons for consideration for appointment to Group A, B, C, and D posts and services under various state government departments, boards, and corporations.
These sports include Baseball, Para Sports, Rugby, Triathlon, Deaf Sports, Mallakhamb, Kudo, Motor Sports, Pencak Silat, Shooting Ball, Soft Tennis, Roll Ball, Tenpin Bowling, Tug-of-War, Fencing, Netball, Sepak Takraw, Wushu, and Kickboxing.
The Cabinet approved the framing of a new Resident Doctors Policy–2025.
It also approved amendments to the scheme for setting up Ground Mounted Solar Power Projects with interest subsidies for bonafide Himachalis. The scheme will now be known as the Rajiv Gandhi Swarojgar Saur Urja Yojna, covering projects ranging from 100 KW to 2 MW in both tribal and non-tribal areas. Under the revised scheme, a 5 per cent interest subsidy will be provided for projects in tribal areas and a 4 percent subsidy in non-tribal areas.
Further, the Cabinet accorded approval to amend the Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Rules, 2014, in reference to the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2025–26.
The Cabinet also approved the establishment of a Tourism Investment Promotion Council (TIPC), which will develop a transparent and efficient mechanism to attract, evaluate, and facilitate tourism investments.
It decided to designate the HP General Industries Corporation as the nodal agency for the procurement, storage, transport, quality testing, and supply of extra neutral alcohol, rectified spirit, and all types of spirits used by pharmaceutical units in the state.
The Cabinet further approved amendments to the Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar Vidyarthi Rin Yojna to benefit a larger number of students. As per the amendment, education loans at a 1 percent interest rate will now also be available for postgraduate courses. The annual family income limit of beneficiary students has been enhanced from ₹4 lakh to ₹12 lakh.
