Hectic parleys in UP amid speculations about new state BJP chief

A series of meetings are taking place here within the organizational set up of BJP on who should be the new party’s president in Uttar Pradesh.

An important meeting of the saffron party was held at the chief minister’s residence on Monday in which incumbent BJP state chief Bhupendra Chaudhary and Organization Minister Dharampal Singh were present.

BJP sources here said the meeting of the three top leaders of the state is considered important in many ways.

Speculations about the appointment of a new state president have been going on for quite some time. According to the BJP sources, during the meeting, the appointment of the new state president and the possible cabinet expansion were discussed.

The meeting lasted for about half an hour, after which Dharampal Singh and the BJP state president returned to the party office.

According to sources, Bhupendra Chaudhary is scheduled to visit Delhi on Tuesday. It is believed that the organization minister can accompany him. They hinted that this week is going to be very important in so far as Uttar Pradesh politics is concerned.

It is worth noting here that a day earlier; Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP’s National President JP Nadda in Delhi. The meeting at the chief minister’s residence was followed by his Delhi visit. In this context, the upcoming visit of the state president to Delhi is being considered very crucial.

Meanwhile, hunt is on for a new state president in Uttar Pradesh. Many big names are in this race. The candidature of former state president Keshav Prasad Maurya is considered to be the strongest.
