The Allahabad High Court on Friday rejected the bail applications of four people in connection with the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and two policemen.

The court has rejected the bail applications of Akhlaq Ahmed, the brother-in-law of mafia don Atiq Ahmed, Atiq’s lawyer Vijay Mishra, driver Mohammad Kaif, and servant Niaz.

Earlier the court had reserved its decision on October 29 after hearing the bail applications of all the four.
On February 24, 2023, advocate Umesh Pal and two police gunmen were killed in an attack with bullets and bombs near his residence. The day after the attack, Pal’s wife Jaya Pal filed an FIR at the Dhoomanganj police station.
Presently, all the four accused are in jail.
