The Department of Future will also oversee Mission Haryana-2047, which aims to boost the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to USD 1 trillion and achieve significant employment generation targets.

In addition, the department will be tasked with developing and coordinating technology and innovation policies to facilitate the adoption of emerging technologies across sectors.

It will also monitor and support governance modernisation initiatives, including the digital transformation of administrative processes.

To ensure cohesive implementation, the department will coordinate with other administrative departments on forward-looking policies and initiatives.

A key focus area will be aligning with future workforce demands. The department will establish an integrated framework for human capital development and devise strategies for the sustainable management of critical resources such as water, energy, and agriculture.

It will also develop mechanisms to monitor the progress of strategic initiatives across departments and work towards rural-urban integration, including the formulation of a comprehensive migration management plan for the state.
