BJP got the support of seven independent candidates and Haryana Lokhit Party chief Gopal Kanda.

The independents included Nayan Pal Rawat (Prithla), Randhir Singh Gollen (Pundri), Sombir Sangwan (Dadri), Balraj Kundu (Meham), Congress rebel Ranjit Singh (Rania), Dharam Pal Gonder (Nilokheri) and Rakesh Daulatabad (Badshahpur).

Out of these independent MLAs,  Daulatabad, Kundu, Rawat, Gollen, Sangwan and Gonder are all BJP rebels.

BJP’s performance in the state deteriorated as compared to the last Assembly Elections in 2014. Eight BJP ministers including state party chief Subhash Barala lost the polls in this election.

BJP outgoing ministers, Abhimanyu, O.P. Dhankar, Ram Bilas Sharma, Kavita Jain, Krishan Lal Panwar, Manish Grover, Karan Dev Kamboj and Krishan Kumar Bedi all faced defeat in the election.

Two sitting ministers Rao Narbir Singh and Vipul Goel from BJP were denied tickets and fresh faces were brought in. However both the new faces lost the polls.
