The voter ID card is a must-have document for voters in the upcoming Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled to be held on October 21. Voter ID card ascertains the identity of a person as an adult citizen and is primarily used in casting one’s vote in municipal, state and general elections.

Before heading to the polling station, you need to check if your name is on the voter’s list or not. It is required to have your name on the list, if not, then you are not allowed to cast your vote.

Once you ensure that your name is on the list, you can download the voter slip or ID and carry it to the polling station on the day of voting.

Here are the steps to download voter slip:

Step 1: Visit the National Voter Services Portal’s (NVSP) website

Step 2: Hit the ‘Search in Electoral Roll’ box on the page, you will be redirected to a new page

Step 3: Enter the details like name, address and other details asked on the page and hit the search button

Step 4: Your name will appear at the bottom of the page

Step 5: Click on ‘View Details’ and the page will redirect you to your voter slip or ID

Step 6: Click on the ‘Print Voter Information’ at the bottom of your voter slip

You will get the printout of your voter slip that you need to take with yourself at the polling station on polling day.

The elections to the 288-seat Maharashtra and 90-seat Haryana Assembly is scheduled on October 21. The counting of votes will be held on October 24 with the declaration of results on the same day in both the states.
