Aqil Akhtar was found dead at his residence in Panchkula on October 16. His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem as police initially ruled out foul play.
However, an FIR was registered against Mustafa and his former minister wife Razia Sultana after purported videos of Aqil surfaced on social media.
Later, Shamshudeen Chaudhary, a resident of Malerkotla, Punjab, who claimed to be the neighbour of Aqil, had also filed a police complaint against Mustafa and his wife.
Aqil had alleged that his wife was having an affair with his father. Mustafa, however, dismissed his allegations as a political conspiracy, citing another purported video in which Aqeel reportedly said that he would have been kicked out of the house, had he been in another household.
Reacting to the allegations, the former DGP alleged a political conspiracy behind the allegations.
“There is no greater pain for a father than losing his only son. This tragedy has awakened the soldier within me to stand against those with petty mindsets. No matter the mistakes a child makes, a father always shields them from the world. Yet, some have tried to exploit this situation for petty politics,” he said.
Mustafa said that he has no fear for he and his wife have done nothing wrong. He said that he is cooperating with the investigation and welcomes the truth to come out.
