West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Tuesday, June 2, took a swipe at TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee and asserted that a handful of TMC leaders turned up at her dharna in Kolkata over alleged post-poll attacks on the party leaders.

While speaking to mediapersons after offering prayers at the Tarakeswar Temple in Hooghly district, Adhikari said, “Only three MPs and six MLAs turned up at Mamata Banerjee’s protest dharna.”

“The TMC’s condition is now pathetic. It resembles that of Falta,” PTI quoted Adhikari as saying.

His statement came after the former chief minister held a day-long dharna in central Kolkata to protest against the alleged post-poll attacks on TMC workers and leaders after the BJP’s historic victory in the 2026 Assembly elections.

Earlier in the day, Banerjee claimed that if she survives, she will surely displace the BJP from power in West Bengal after foiling alleged attempts by them to disintegrate TMC.

“If I survive, I will surely displace the BJP from the position of power in West Bengal. Their central leadership in New Delhi is trying to disintegrate the Trinamool Congress. They are threatening our elected public representatives like MPs, MLAs, and councillors. But I will ultimately foil all such attempts,” she said at her sit-in demonstration.

Notably, this was Banerjee’s first public programme since the Assembly election results were announced on May 4, which ended TMC’s 15-year rule.

Among those present were TMC’s Chief Whip in the Lok Sabha, Kalyan Banerjee; Lok Sabha member Mala Roy; and Rajya Sabha members Derek O’Brien, Dola Sen, and Samirul Islam.

At present, TMC has 41 MPs in both Houses of Parliament.

The legislators present during the protest were Firhad Hakim, Biman Bandopadhyay, Nayna Bandopadhyay, Madan Mitra, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, and Ashok Deb.
