Learn to cope with airport snarls
Ten years ago I wrote a book titled “The End of Airports” about how digital technologies and commercial air travel were on a collision course.
The airlines were also asked to place real-time data on their social media feeds regarding waiting times at respective airports’ entry gates.
Amid increasing complaints of overcrowding at the Delhi airport, the government, on Tuesday, advised all airlines to deploy sufficient manpower at all check/baggage drop counters well in advance to ensure decongestion and smooth flow of passengers at all airports.
In an official advisory, the Civil Aviation Ministry said it has come to its notice that the check-in counters at certain airports were found unmanned or inadequately manned during early morning hours leading to congestion at the airports, thereby causing inconvenience to passengers.
The airlines were also asked to place real-time data on their social media feeds regarding waiting times at respective airports’ entry gates.

The advisory comes two days after Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia paid a surprise visit to Delhi Airport after harried passengers flooded social media with complaints of over-crowding, causing many complainants to miss their flights.
